Small tables in Tokyo

Come alone.
Everyone else is coming alone too.

Chum seats six to eight people around one table for an evening built to be easy to walk into. You book your seat on your own. So does everybody else at it.

How an evening works

Four steps, and only one of them happens on a screen.

  1. Tell us who you arethe screen bit

A few honest questions about what you enjoy and who you would get on with. Three minutes, and there is no profile for anyone to browse.

  2. We seat you at a small table

Six to eight people, matched on your answers, at a beginner-friendly activity in your part of Tokyo.

  3. Show up on your own

A host starts the introductions, so nobody is left standing at the edge. Bring yourself, that is the whole list.

  4. Keep the people you clicked with

Afterwards you privately say who you would like to see again. We only pass it on when it is mutual.

The kind of thing we mean

Things worth doing, chosen so the talking is easy.

A few examples to give you the idea. Dates, venues and plenty more formats are still in the works.

Coffee & conversation

Two hours in a corner café with a host who makes sure everyone gets a word in.

the first thing we ran

Dinner tables

One long table, small plates, and no seating left to chance.

Cooking class

Make one thing together, then sit down and eat it together.

Museum walks

Something to look at when you are not sure what to say next.

Morning run, then breakfast

A gentle loop around the palace, then breakfast with the people you just ran with.

To be clear

What Chum is not.

Not a dating app

Reconnections here are about friendship, and they are only ever shared when both people choose the same thing.

Not a networking room

No pitches, no business cards, no going round the table saying what you do for work.

Not a feed to scroll

Your answers help us seat you well. Your profile is not public and nobody can browse it.
